Disruption to services due to a fault with the electrical third rail between Gatwick Airport & Three Bridges

A fire broke out this morning on a section of track outside Gatwick Airport. The emergency services attended and the fire is out, however the electrical third rail, running rail, and some surrounding cables have all suffered extensive damage.

Network Rail, who own and maintain the signalling and track, have advised us that this damage has rendered two of the four lines through Gatwick Airport unusable. The repairs necessary to bring the lines back into use are underway and they are hopeful that these lines will be available to us again in time for the evening peak.

Gatwick Express services that usually operate between Victoria and Brighton have been suspended. We intend to operate a half hourly Gatwick Express service between Gatwick Airport and Victoria departing Gatwick at XX:00 and XX:30 and from Victoria at XX:15 and XX:45 each hour.

To help you to complete your journey as quickly as possible, Gatwick Express tickets are also being accepted on Thameslink and Southern train services between Brighton and London Victoria.
