Am I allowed to take petrol-powered vehicles, such as mopeds, on your trains?
No. For safety reasons trains are unable to convey any petrol – powered vehicles.
Can I take my bike with me on-board your trains?
Gatwick Express welcomes standard-sized folded cycles on all services.
During off-peak services Southern welcomes ordinary bicycles free of charge on our trains and without a prior reservation.
The high volume of passengers who use our trains during the peak times means that we cannot accommodate ordinary cycles on Southern services at these times. This means on trains travelling towards either London or Brighton and due to arrive between 07:00 and 10:00 and trains leaving either London or Brighton between 16:00 and 19:00.
Please note that during special events such as the London to Brighton bike race we do not allow bicycles on our trains.
Can I take my pet with me on your services?
Yes. Up to two dogs, cats or other small domestic animals can travel with you free of charge provided they do not occupy a seat.
For each additional dog, cat or other small animal there will be a charge. This will be half the adult fare for the type of ticket held for the journey, subject to a maximum of £5.00 single £10.00 return.
Special arrangements can be made for passengers travelling with an assistance dog. Please Contact us for further information.
Can I travel with a cycle trailer?
Cycle trailers not exceeding the maximum dimensions of 100x100x100cm and 50kg in weight can be carried in the driver or guards van.
Trailers not exceeding 90x70x30cm and 50kg can be carried free of charge.
A fee not exceeding half the adult fare for your journey is charged for: each additional item in excess of a passenger's free allowance; and any item with dimensions exceeding 90 x 70 x 30 cm.
Excess allowance charges can be purchased at the time of booking your tickets and or cycle reservations.
Do your services carry mobility scooters?
We are able to carry powered mobility scooters if they fit on the platform-train ramps, and can manoeuvre safely inside our trains.
In practice this means we will accept any scooter up to 1200mm long by 700mm wide.
Please note that our new ramps can accept a maximum weight of 300kg.
We cannot provide alternative transport to inaccessible stations for scooter users.

What about tricycles, cycle trailers or double deck cycles?
Unfortunately, tricycles, cycle trailers or double deck cycles are prohibited from our cycle policy.

What catering services do you offer on your trains?
We offer at-seat trolley catering on all Gatwick Express services. The tasty treats on offer include some fair trade. There's also an exciting new range of coffees and more.
What if I want some help with my luggage?
Gatwick Express offers porter assistance with luggage. Our onboard and stations teams will be happy to assist when boarding or alighting from the train.
Will you be able to heat baby food or my own food on-board the train?
For health and safety reasons, our on-board staff are unable to heat baby food or any other food you may have purchased prior to boarding the train.
