Are there VAT charges on train tickets?
No, there are no VAT charges on train tickets

Can tickets purchased online be sent to an overseas address?
Unfortunately tickets cannot be posted overseas.

Can I have my tickets delivered to a different address?
Yes. When you book you will be asked for your billing address (this is the address to which your card is registered and your statements are delivered). You must complete this field. You can then choose to have your tickets delivered to another address. Please complete the delivery address field making sure you include the correct postcode.

NB: You cannot change the delivery address once the booking has been confirmed.

Does a Gatwick Express season ticket allow me to travel on the underground?
No, a Gatwick Express season ticket only allows travel between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria Station. Underground travel is not included.

Is it possible to purchase a ticket for someone else?
Train tickets can be used by anyone even though certain tickets will have the name of the traveller or person who booked the tickets printed on them.

When you are making a booking you can request that the tickets are sent to a different address.

If you do purchase tickets for someone else please note that enclosed with the tickets will be the sales receipt. This shows the last four digits of the credit card as well as the purchase price.

What happens if I don't receive my tickets?
Tickets bought online are processed and dispatched within 24 hours of booking.

Customers selecting the first class post delivery option should be aware that unfortunately we are unable to guarantee delivery and are not obliged to change, cancel, replace or refund a ticket once it has been posted.

Customers will have to replace their tickets should they still wish to travel

Will I get a receipt for the tickets I purchased?
Yes. If your tickets are being delivered by post then a receipt will be enclosed with them. If collecting from a Self-Service Ticket Vending machine the receipt will be printed with the tickets.

There are no VAT charges on train tickets.

What happens if I lose my season ticket? Do I have to buy another?
Gatwick Express has a duplicate season policy. For season tickets purchased online you can apply for a duplicate at ANY Southern station.

Whilst waiting for your application to be processed you will need to buy extra tickets to cover your journeys. You are able to obtain refunds for those tickets at any Southern station.

What is Delay Repay?
If we have delayed your journey, regardless of the cause, then Southern will compensate you.

You can claim a refund from us under our Delay Repay scheme.

I need to travel on a different day to the one on my ticket, can I do this?
If your chosen delivery option is e-ticket then you have from the day after the ticket is booked and up to 30 days from the date of travel selected to use your ticket.

For all other delivery options, travel must be undertaken on the date stated on the ticket.

Can a 'Gatwick to Victoria' ticket be used in either direction?
No, you must travel in the direction of travel specified on the ticket. Please chose your origin and destination stations carefully.

What is an e-ticket (Print at home)?
e-ticket is an option when tickets are purchased online with Gatwick Express. A bar-coded ticket and reference number will be sent by email on completion of ticket purchase. This ticket needs to be printed and presented to the onboard Gatwick Express staff where it will be scanned as a valid ticket for travel.

The bar-coded ticket can also be sent to a mobile phone which can be presented onboard the train from the phone.
