Our trains
Gatwick Express uses trains that are designed with the air traveller in mind, with two types of train currently being used on the route.
442 trains
The majority of the trains we run are now the newly refurbished 442 model trains. The recent introduction of the 442 fleet has meant that there is now even more capacity on the line of route to and from the airport, allowing more room and more space within the train.
The recent refurbishment of the 442 trains has included new Express Class seating, additional seats, new large luggage racks, new First Class areas and improved accessibility area for disabled travel. The 442 trains are known for their great ride, meaning you will have a very smooth ride to and from Gatwick Airport when travelling with Gatwick Express.
460 trains
The Class 460 ‘Juniper’ trains on the Gatwick Express that have been running since 2000 are being retired from early 2011. Just a limited number of these trains are still running. Once the 460 trains are retired, the entire Gatwick Express fleet will be made up of the 442 trains.
