Station Improvements
A smarter journey awaits.
These are exciting times for Gatwick Express. A widespread programme of improvements across the service has begun, all designed to further enhance your journey to and from the airport. It all started with the installation of ticket gates at the end of December 2011
Install timeline – January 2012
The installation of the ticket gates is now complete and this means that Gatwick Express customers can no longer buy their tickets onboard the train. Customers will be required to buy a ticket before they travel.
Improvement works do continue at both Victoria and Gatwick Station over the months of January and February 2012 to benefit your future journey.
A brief overview of the station improvement works are below:
Victoria Station:
- 1st floor escalator works continues until March 28th, meaning platform access from upstairs is via the 1st floor lift or stairs.
- 1st floor lift entrance works continue (at the upstairs taxi drop off area) as the entrance is smartened up.
Gatwick Station:
- Installation of 4 new ticket vending machines in the main Gatwick concourse takes place during January.
- Relocation of the existing ticket vending machines to the vacated retail space (previously Subway restaurant) will occur in January to ease any congestion in main Gatwick concourse.
Please bear with us as we work on these station improvements over this time, and feel free to ask a member of staff for more information.
