Severe Weather Warning

Due to the severe weather conditions forecast for today, speed restrictions are in operation on some routes as a safety precaution.

As a result, we are running a revised service on some parts of the network. For details please click here.

Passengers are advised that disruption is highly likely and to check their journey before travelling.

Passengers are being advised to expect delays and disruption as forecasters are predicting winds in excess of 70mph across the South Coast on Monday.

With the strength of the winds expected, railway infrastructure could be damaged as severe winds can blow debris and trees onto tracks and damage equipment and signals.

For information from Network Rail about how high winds affect the railway please click here.

Christmas and New Year services

Christmas and New Year servicesMajor improvement work between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria this Christmas

From 22:00 Thursday 24 December 2015 until 04:00 Monday 4 January 2016, Gatwick Express services will not run due to major rail improvement work.

There will be two options for travel between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria:

Two Southern trains per hour will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport via Horsham. This journey will take approximately 90 minutes.

Alternatively, you will be able to travel by train from Victoria to East Grinstead (Two trains per hour) and use the rail replacement bus service to Gatwick Airport. This option will also take around 90 minutes. This option would be more suited to those who do not require assistance and who have light luggage.

However, on Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December, there is just one route between Gatwick and Victoria. If you are travelling from Gatwick Airport into London, you will need to take the replacement bus service to East Grinstead and change onto a train for Victoria, and vice-versa for travel from Victoria to Gatwick Airport.
