Corporate and social responsibility

We’re passionate about putting our stations and services at the heart of the communities they serve. Here are some of the ways we do it

Working with our communities and charities

We want to pitch in to help local people, groups and charities achieve their goals. We do this through community projects at our stations and by giving financial support to groups doing important work in the area.

If you would like to seek sponsorship from Gatwick Express, please fill in our online sponsorship form.

We welcome applications from across our network, but please do keep in mind that we have a limited budget. We get a number of requests and consider them all carefully.

Corporate charity

Each year as part of our Employee Survey, we ask our teams to choose a corporate charity. This year, our pick is Embrace.

Embrace works with special needs and disabled children, helping them develop life skills and promoting their inclusion in society. Su Rogers, a member of our team working at Moulsecoomb station, nominated Embrace after all the support they provided to her and her son.

Learn more about Embrace by viewing their website, Facebook page and promotional video.

Youth Matters

We want to make sure youngsters stay safe when they travel with us.

That’s why we’ve worked with Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP) to develop the Go-Learn project.

Go-Learn focuses on staying safe on the railway. It includes school sessions on travel planning and personal safety, as well as station visits.

We’ve delivered Go-Learn to over 6,500 children, and have won the Engineering and Safety category of the Railway Industry Innovation Awards.

Sussex Community Rail Partnership

Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP) is a not-for-profit partnership that works to promote rail travel along some of our lines. They work with transport operators and local communities to:

  • support community projects, including those that give people a sense of pride in their stations
  • encourage rural tourism
  • educate children about rail travel and safety
  • help remove barriers to travel
  • encourage car-free and sustainable travel

They also hold events and produce award-winning guides to train lines and local attractions.

SCRP covers five lines, including the Arun Valley (running from Gatwick Airport to Bognor Regis, Chichester and Littlehampton).

To learn more visit the SCRP website.

Station Partnerships

A station partnership is a group of volunteers who come together to work with us on improving how one of our stations serves its local area. It’s an ongoing partnership that benefits everyone involved and creates links with local communities.

There’s a great variety of projects, but all are designed to benefit the community, the station and our passengers.

Examples include:

  • Improving the look of a station through a garden or community artwork
  • Repurposing unused buildings or rooms for community use
  • Commercial sponsorships by local groups or businesses
  • Station presentation checks
