Flight disruption at UK airports

Following issues affecting Air Traffic Control on Tuesday 8 September 2026, there were widespread delays and cancellations to flights going to and from the airports on our network.

If your flight was affected by this disruption and you bought a train ticket from us:

  • If you rescheduled your flight, you could use your train ticket on the day your flight was rescheduled to. You needed to show both your train ticket and your new flight booking to staff at the station and on board the train.
  • If you had already travelled to the airport and were returning home after your flight was cancelled, you could use a train ticket you had bought for a different day to travel that day.
  • If your flight was diverted to a different airport, you would have needed to buy a new train ticket if you wanted to travel by train to your destination.
  • If you bought your train ticket from us (either at a station or online), you can still apply for a full refund. You’ll need to apply within 28 days of the date shown on the ticket.
