Our route

Gatwick Express is a non-stop train between London Victoria, Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath and Brighton.

At Gatwick Airport, the train station is situated in the heart of the airport at the South Terminal. If you’re travelling to or from the North Terminal, a fast inter-terminal transit shuttle connects the North Terminal to the train station and the South Terminal.

London Victoria is well connected to other travel links. It’s on the London Underground’s Victoria, District and Circle lines, making it easy to get around central London. If you’re headed elsewhere, Victoria bus station is next door, and it’s only a short walk to the National Express coach station.

Ticket information

For details of the availability of Advance fares, visit the advance ticket availability information here. Please note, there are currently no Advance fares for journeys solely on Great Northern and Gatwick Express services. If your pre-booked journey is changed, for example the time is amended, then you can either continue to travel on the revised timetable or apply for a refund. Summary of the service we plan to operate

Journey planners are showing the service we are currently running, so plan ahead by using our journey planner. For a summary of the key changes which took place and for downloadable timetables, please see below.

Key Changes to Southern and Gatwick Express

West Coastway

From Monday to Saturday, there will be changes on our West Coastway route. This is to improve the reliability of our service in this area and to provide faster regional journeys between Brighton, Chichester and Southampton, and for connections to the West of England.

The new Monday to Saturday timetable will be formed of: 

Half-hourly service between Brighton and Southampton Central 
Hourly service between Brighton and Portsmouth & Southsea 
Half-hourly service between London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour/Bognor Regis. These trains attach and detach at Horsham. 
Half-hourly service between London Victoria and Littlehampton via Hove 
Hourly stopping service (all station) between Brighton and Chichester via Littlehampton 
Half-hourly shuttle services between Bognor Regis and Barnham

Customers travelling between Southampton Central and London Victoria via Gatwick Airport will need to change trains at Barnham or Chichester.

The Sunday service will be largely unchanged, except for some minor re-timing.

Hemel Hempstead/Watford Junction and Clapham Junction/East Croydon

All Southern services will run between East Croydon, Clapham Junction and Watford Junction only. Hemel Hempstead will no longer be served by Southern services.

On Sundays, services between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction will stop additionally at Wembley Central.

Epsom, Dorking and London Victoria via Hackbridge

Monday to Friday, the 06:31 Epsom to London Victoria service will now start from Horsham at 05:49.

The 17:25 London Victoria to Epsom service will be extended to Horsham.

On Saturdays, all services between Epsom and London Victoria via Hackbridge will run with 8 or 10 carriages.

Littlehampton and London

The 06:05 Littlehampton to London Bridge, and the 17:33 London Bridge to Littlehampton service will run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only.

Peterborough and London Kings Cross

There will be two additional peak services between Peterborough and London Kings Cross:

06:35 Peterborough to London Kings Cross, calling at Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Neots, Biggleswade, Stevenage and London Kings Cross (arrives at 07:44)
17:42 London Kings Cross to Peterborough, calling at London Kings Cross, Stevenage, Biggleswade, St Neots, Huntingdon and Peterborough (arrives at 17:42)
