  • To maintain and improve the railway, Network Rail carries out regular planned engineering works on the Gatwick Express network
  • Work normally takes place at weekends or after 10 pm – but occasionally services are impacted at other times
  • Information will be available here as soon as it is available

To find out more simply click the date that you wish to travel on the calendar below to get the full details of planned works as well as if these works have been uploaded to online journey planners.

  • The furthest date that engineering work alterations have been included in online journey planners is available here
  • The furthest date Advance Fares have been released for is available here
  • Some tickets may not be available online during engineering works. If you're unable to find your usual ticket, please use the ticket vending machines or ask at the station ticket office

Gatwick Express between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport Southern between London Victoria and Brighton / Lewes / Horsham / East Grinstead / Eastbourne / Ore / Worthing / Bognor Regis / Littlehampton Portsmouth & Southsea / Portsmouth Harbour / Southampton Central

Engineering work is taking place between London Victoria and East Croydon, closing all lines to / from London Victoria.

Gatwick Express:

No Gatwick Express services will run on Saturday or Sunday.

You can use alternative Southern / Thameslink trains between London Bridge and Gatwick Airport.


No trains will run to / from London Victoria on Saturday or Sunday.

On Saturday, trains will not run between London Victoria and Balham. On Sunday, trains will not run between London Victoria and Streatham Hill / East Croydon.

Replacement buses will run between Clapham Junction and Balham on Saturday and between Clapham Junction and East Croydon on Sunday. Some late night / early morning buses will be extended to run to / from London Victoria.

Most trains will be amended to run to / from London Bridge instead of London Victoria, and will run to an amended timetable.

No direct trains will run between Reigate and London, please change at Redhill when travelling to / from London.

No trains will call at stations between London Bridge and East Croydon via Sydenham.

No trains will run between East Croydon / Clapham Junction and Watford Junction / Milton Keynes Central. For these services, you can use London Underground between Clapham Junction and London Euston, and London Northwestern Railway services between London Euston and Watford Junction / Milton Keynes Central.

Ticket acceptance:

You can use your ticket on:

  • London Underground services between London Victoria and Clapham Junction / Balham / London Bridge, and also between London Bridge and Canada Water.
  • London Bus routes 170 / 255 / 319  between Balham and Streatham Hill.
  • London Overground between Canada Water and Crystal Palace / West Croydon.
  • South Western Railway services between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction.
